Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When should we begin preparing our wedding dance?
A: It is recommended that you start your lessons a minimum of 3 months before the big day. With so many things going on before the wedding, you don’t want to wait until the last minute and cause any anxiety. Most couples need a minimum of 5 lessons for their dance, but many feel much more prepared with around 10 lessons. We have compiled some expert tips on “Wedding Dance Do’s and Don’ts” which is definitely worth reading so check it out!
Q: What song should we use?
A: Most couples choose a song which has special meaning to them. We will listen to your song and determine which type of dance goes best depending on the rhythm and tempo. Whether it’s a foxtrot, rumba, swing, waltz or slow dance, we will make sure you are comfortable and look great at your wedding! It’s also recommended to us a song that is less than 3 minutes long.
Q: What should we wear to our lesson?
A: Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Footwear is important. While ballroom shoes have suede on the bottom, you most likely do not have special dance shoes. That’s okay. Just don’t wear rubber soled shoes as they stick. It’s best to wear leather soled shoes. And ladies, try to avoid very high heels while you are learning. We can always try out dancing in your wedding shoes or ones that are similar as we get closer to the wedding date. Check out our blog entitled “What do I wear to a dance lesson?” for more information.
Q: How long are the lessons?
A: Lessons are a full 45 minutes long! It’s a good idea to arrive to the studio early to change into your dance shoes, and practice a few minutes before the lesson begins. This way you will be ready to begin on time and get the most out of your lesson.
Q: Where are the lessons held?
A: We offer private lessons in two locations! One in Danbury, CT, and the other in Hawthorne, NY.
The Westchester studio is conveniently located at 26 Broadway. It is adjacent to the Metro North train station in Hawthorne. You will see a sign on the building that says Broadway 26 Dance. There is a parking lot and also street parking after 5:00, and all day on the weekends.
The Danbury Studio is located at 10 Precision Road. It’s just a few minutes from the Danbury Fair Mall. The lessons are held on the second floor at Vitti’s Dance Studio. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Check out the maps on our website to get directions to either studio.

Q: Do you offer discounted dance packages?
A: Yes! We offer both 5 and 10 Lesson Packages, as well as single dance lessons. Dance lessons and dance packages make an awesome wedding gift! Gift certificates are available.
Q: What other dance services do you offer?
A: In addition to wedding dance choreography for the bride and groom, we also teach Father-Bride, and Mother-Groom Dances! It’s a great joy to teach these special, memorable dances. Of course, we teach any and all couples who would love to learn how to ballroom dance and be able to enjoy weddings, parties, and dance socials together. We have fathers who took lessons with their daughter for their Father-Daughter wedding dance, and afterwards continued to take lessons with their wife as a hobby because they enjoyed dancing so much!
